For the 5th year in a row Girls Swim Team captures Parma Championship, Boys finish 3rd

For the 5th consecutive year The Lady Bruins Swim Team are Parma Champs! This meet was hosted by Padua Franciscan and held at Valley Forge High School last Saturday. This meet was the 25th Annual Parma City Championships and the Bruins competed very well!

First place finishes for the Lady Bruins was Senior Captain Alyssa Thomas (200 Individual Medley & 100 Butterfly), Senior Deater Martin (50 Freestyle), and Erika Ranker (200 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke).

First place relay finishes in include the 200 Medley Relay of Erika Ranker, Michele Lew, Alyssa Thomas, and Deater Martin and the 400 Freestyle Relay of Erika Ranker, Natalie Kehoe, Alyssa Thomas, and Deater Martin.

Other notable swims for the Lady Bruins included Second Place Finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay by Kristen Seballos, Captain Rebecca Sobiech, Madison Hangauer, and Natalie Kehoe.

Also, Rebecca Sobiech placed 2nd in the 400 Freestyle and 3rd in the 200 Freestyle and Kristen Seballos placed 2nd in the 100 Backstroke & 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley. Deater Martin finished 2nd in the 100 Freestyle and

For bronze, Madison Hangauer placed 3rd in the 100 Freestyle, Natalie Kehoe in the 100 Butterfly and Shawna Connelly in the Diving 1 Meter Platform! The 400 Freestyle Relay of Katy Stahl, Maggie Wetter, Kayleigh Wallenhorst, and Rebecca Sobiech also placed 3rd!

 

The Boys were led by Captain Matt Laneve with first place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Fellow Captain Emmett Galla finished 2nd in the 20 Freestyle as well as the 100 Freestyle.

Other notable finishes included Michael Buccieri in the 100 Breastroke and Andy Geng 3rd place in the 200 Individual Medley as well as the 100 Butterfly.

The Boys also placed first in the 200 Medley Relay by Matt Laneve, Michael Buccieri, Andy Geng, and Emmett Galla and placed 2nd in the 400 Freestyle Relay of Christian Litwinowicz, Andy Geng, Emmett Galla, and Matt Laneve.

“I am incredible proud of these Bruin Swimmers,” said second year Head Coach Kyle Kiffer. “It was their first Championship format meet and the swimmers showed mental toughness and confidence in their swims.”

The Bruins next opponent is Independence High School next week Tuesday 1.24.17.
