Bruin Swimmers finished the regular season in an impressive fashion as they now roll into the NCL Championship Meet and Sectionals. The Padua ladies beat Independence last week 99-71, Fairview High School 110-70, lost a close meet to Normandy 90-95, and were third out of eight teams at the Blazer Invitational. Bruin boys fell to those three teams, but marked their fastest swims of the year in the process.
Head Coach Kyle Kiffer said “The Ladies had one of the most dominate weeks I have seen in six years of coaching. They should be proud of themselves.”
At Independence: Winning for the ladies was Senior Captain Alyssa Thomas in the 200 Individual Medley, Erika Ranker in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke, Senior Deater Martin in the 50 & 100 Freestyle, Captain Rebecca Sobiech in the 500 Freestyle. The 200 Medley Relay of Ranker, Kehoe, Thomas, and Martin, as well as the 200 Free Relay of Ranker, Hangauer, Thomas, and Martin also took first place.
The boys first places included Captain Matt Laneve in the 200 and 500 Freestyle, Michael Buccieri in the 100 Breaststroke, and the 400 Free Relay of Laneve, Litwinowski, Geng, and Galla.
At Fairview: The ladies had wins by Natalie Kehoe in the 200 Freestyle, Erika Ranker in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke, Deater Martin in the 50 Freestyle, Shauna Connelly in Diving, Alyssa Thomas in the 500 Free, the 200 Free Relay of Seballos, Sobiech, Kehoe, Hangauer, and the 400 Free Relay of Ranker, Hangauer, Thomas, and Martin.
The boys placed first from Matt Laneve in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, Captain Emmett Galla in the 50 and 100 Free, Michael Buccieri in the100 Breastroke, and 200 Medley Relay of Laneve, Buccieri, Geng, and Galla as well as the 400 Free Relay of Geng, Litwinowicz, Galla, and Laneve.
At Normandy: Frist place included Alyssa Thomas in the 100 Butterfly, and the 200 Freestyle Relay of Seballos, Sobiech, Kehoe, and Hangauer.
Placing first for the boys was Matt Laneve in the 200 Freestyle and Emmett Galla in the 100 Freestyle.
