Multiple Teams · Girls finish 2nd and Boys finish 5th at NCL’s

On Saturday, the cross country teams competed at the North Coast League Championships.

The boys team finished 5th overall in the 6 team blue division race. The Bruins were led by Junior Matthew Bildstein. Matthew put together one his best races of the season, moving up over the course of the race and using a strong finishing kick to finish 10th overall in a time of 17:54. Matthew’s 10th place finished earned him 2nd team All-NCL honors. Junior Robbie Wilson also ran a good race, finishing 21st overall in a time of 18:42. Robbie’s 21st place finish earned him All-NCL Honorable Mention. Freshman Cam Spacht (29th, 19:16) Sophomore Peter Heinzerling (34th, 20:07) and Sophomore Brian Kovacs (37th, 20:38) rounded out the scoring for the Bruins.

The girls team finished 2nd overall in the 7 team blue division race, losing by 5 to conference champion St. Joseph Academy. Senior Kristen Seballos ran a gutsy race, going out hard and hanging onto the front pack. Kristen’s effort paid off with a 6th place finish in a time of 20:47, earning her 1st Team All-NCL honors. Senior Ashlynn Uzl also had a good race, working her way up throughout the race and finishing 7th overall in a time of 20:55, earning her 1st Team All-NCL honors. Junior Katie Byram (9th, 21:12) and Senior Megan Casselberry (13th, 21:27) earned 2nd Team All-NCL honors. Sophomore Emmalee Clark (34th, 23:16) rounded out the scoring for the Bruins.

The cross country teams will compete at the District Championship, held at Lorain County Community College, on Saturday October 21st.
