Boys Varsity Lacrosse · College bound seniors finish careers with MVP honors


Senior lacrosse players Ben Starkey and Paul Medrick finished their playing careers at Padua last week in the OHSAA playoffs, but both will be continuing their playing careers next year at the Division 1 level.  Recognized within the North Coast League, Starkey was named the NCL Offensive MVP and Medrick was named the NCL Defensive MVP for their efforts on the field for Padua this season.

Ben Starkey will continue his career at Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania next season.  He graduates with his name all over the offensive record book for the Padua lacrosse program.  Starkey has the season record for goals (84 in sophomore season), assists (45 in senior season), and points (114 in senior season).  Starkey also established new career records in each category with 260 career goals, 108 career assists and 368 career points.  Starkey was recognized as the NCL MVP for his junior season too, plus earned All-State 1st team and All-Region 1st team honors last season.  (All-Region and All-State teams will be announced in the coming weeks)

Paul Medrick will be moving on to play at Fairfield University in Connecticut next season.  Medrick led the defense for the past few seasons and was recognized on the All-State 2nd team, All-Region 1st team and NCL 1st team last season.

NCL 1st team: Evan Acino, Tommy Advent and Nick DiPaolo

NCL 2nd team: Colin Cobb, Jake Barth and Will Dzurnak
