The Football team defeated NDCL 38-21 on Friday night to clinch a spot in the OHSAA playoffs and improve to 5-4 on the season. In the victory,
Roderick Love broke the school's career rushing record which had been held by Ryan Gorius '95 for the past 30 years.
Love finished the night with 360 yards and 5 touchdowns to move ahead of Gorius mark of 3,274 rushing yards. Love currently has 3,455 yards in his career for the Bruins and also tied his school record for touchdowns in a game. The Bruins led 14-13 at halftime and increased their lead on a 27 yard field goal by
Caleb Zolkowski early in the third quarter. Love added two long touchdown runs to give the Bruins a 31-13 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Lions scored and cut the Bruins lead to 31-21 early in the fourth quarter when Love sealed the victory on a 50 yard touchdown run.
Padua wraps up the regular season next Friday at Walsh Jesuit before starting the OHSAA playoffs on Friday, November 1.
