The Padua Football team defeated Midview 31-14 tonight to advance in the OHSAA playoffs. The Bruins broke open a close game early in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns to seal the victory.
The Bruins opened the scoring on a 38 yard field goal by
Caleb Zolkowski in the first quarter. On their next possession, Padua scored on a 21 yard touchdown pass from
Nick Barker to
Roderick Love to give the Bruins a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. Midview answered with a touchdown before halftime to make the score 10-7 at the break.
Padua and Midview exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter with
Roderick Love scoring on a 17 yard run and the Middies on a 2 yard run. The Bruins scored early in the fourth quarter on a 75 yard screen pass from Barker to Love, then followed up with another touchdown by
Riley Cervenka on a 8 yard pass from Barker to wrap up the scoring.
Love led the way for the Bruins with 204 yards rushing on 28 carries and 1rushing TD plus 2 receptions for 96 yards and two receiving TD's. Barker went 11 for 17 for 165 yards and 3 passing TD's.
The Bruins advance to play Medina Buckeye next Friday, November 8 at Buckeye HS at 7pm
