The Wrestling team defeated Strongsville in today's Dual in the School match 39-35. The Bruins improve to 6-2 in dual matches on the season.
The match went back and forth with several lead changes. Padua led 11-6 after the first couple matches with wins from
Bryden Spellacy (tech fall 17-2) and
John LoFaso (pin). Strongsville regained the lead despite a win from
Rocco Luciano (maj dec 15-6) and the Mustangs led 23-15 at the halfway point in the match. The Bruins won the next four matches by
Giovanni Duniec (maj dec 12-4), Joe Belfiore (dec 9-7),
Devin Shaw-Mason (pin) and Jimmy Zarzeczny (tech fall 17-1) to regain the lead 33-23 going into the final matches. The Mustangs won at 190 and 215 and led 35-33 going into the final match at 285, when Bo Barney (pin) won with a pin at 54 seconds into the first period to win the match for Padua.
The Bruins return to action on Saturday in the State Duals where they take on Benedictine at Perry HS in Lake County.
