The Boys Soccer team defeated state ranked Lake Catholic 1-0 on Tuesday night to improve to 7-2-3 on the season and 3-0-1 in conference play.
The game went back and forth throughout the night with each team getting quality chances until the Bruins capitalized with 11 minutes remaining in the half. Padua maintained possession and passed the ball to
Garrett Nowicki in the right flank. Nowicki crossed the ball to the back post where
Eli Christine separated from his defender and headed the ball into the goal for the game winner.
Greg Dudick had 8 saves in the shutout win including some key saves coming off his line. The back line of
Brayden Mordarski,
Max Bulat and
Sawyer Bulat also cleared away a number of chances for the Cougars to maintain the lead especially late in the second half.
The Bruins return to action on Saturday when they travel to Willoughby South.
