The Baseball team defeated Sylvania Southview 3-2 on Monday in the OHSAA Regional tournament. The Bruins improve to 24-4 on the season and advance to the Regional Championship game.
Padua trailed 1-0 after the first inning with the Cougars scoring a run on a couple of singles and walks, but the Bruins responded in the top of the 2nd inning on a triple by
Michael Cangelosi followed by an RBI single from
Chase Martin. Padua took the lead in the top of the 4th inning on a sacrifice fly by Martin scoring
Braylon Benson. In the top of the 6th inning, Benson singled and manufactured a run with his baserunning by stealing two bases and scoring on a pickoff attempt at first base.
Martin started the game on the mound and settled in after the first inning, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits with 11 strikeouts.
Brandon Tillman closed out the game with 2 innings pitched and 2 strikeouts.
The Bruins return to action on Tuesday when they take on University School in the OHSAA Regional championship game at ForeFront Field in Avon at 5pm.
